This song is about people who suffer with chronic illness, partially from the point of view of my partner who has chronic neurologic lyme and suffers in relative silence as far as the medical community is concerned. She's not the only one though, there are around 2 million people with Lyme and more are contracting it and COUNTLESS OTHER PEOPLE with chronic illness who also suffer in silence or near silence because people don't listen to them and don't believe that they are sick.
Please take time to listen to any person who is in pain or is sick. They need you more than most. Be kind, show love, be patient, have empathy.
lyrics
You see
The world looks right through me
It's easy to not believe
In pain you can't see
You see
Your life as mostly free
But for me it's 10s of 1000s
And endless indignity
It isn't asking a lot
For a few extra minutes to listen to me
And a little more effort, could you please
It's not asking a lot
To ask people to care or help shine a light
I just want you to understand my fight
It's a crime
Another person commits suicide
She suffered in obscurity
There's no difference between you and she
The Hope
Is people start to listen up
Doctors start to give a fuck
And that people down and out can get back up
It isn't asking a lot
For a few extra minutes to listen to me
And a little more effort could you please
It's not asking a lot
To ask people to care or help shine a light
I just want you to understand my fight
